🔥🔥 Master Polar Bear Shows You How to Get Across Thin Ice
You’ve probably seen enough TV ads with polar bears floating on cubes of ice to make you roll your eyes and change the channel. You may have also asked, “Why are polar bears always involved?” and “Why should I care?” I’d like to talk about how important polar bears and arctic ice are in general, and why we need to pay more attention than ever to these things instead of ignoring them.
The vast majority of scientists agree that polar bears are in grave danger. Polar bears are getting thinner because they are losing their favourite place to live and hunt, which is the arctic sea ice, at a rate of 13% per year (Obbard et al., 2016). (From Nsidc.org, 2017) Those cute baby polar bears are feeling the effects of this the most Pagano et al., 2012. Polar bears can grow to be 2.5 metres long and 700 kilograms heavy. They are top predators that use ice as platforms to catch ringed and harp seals, which are their main food source.
Each year, as the ice gets harder to get to, fewer polar bear cubs can make it through the swim . Less cubs means less adult polar bears. If polar bears died out, it would have a big effect on the Arctic environment. For example, there would be a big drop in the number of northern shrimp if there weren’t enough predators to eat them (Hassol, 2004). With at least 16 predators, northern shrimp are an important link in a big part of the food chain Parsons, 2005.
So, why does this matter? More than anything else, the polar bear’s situation shows how well or badly we are taking care of the environment. The arctic food chain is breaking down, which hurts the whole ecosystem.
“Who you hang out with says a lot about who you are.”
This comment is very important to me as I work on improving myself. Whether they are a member of your family, a close friend, a coach, a counsellor, a supervisor, a coworker, or someone you just met, it is up to you to decide how important they are to you. It was suggested that I hang out with close friends who share my strong opinions and work ethic. The best way to keep growing as a person is to spend time with people who help you.
When you’re in high school, you meet a lot of new people who are all playing the same game. Four very competitive quarters where you think about winning as soon as you step on the court. After giving it your all, you move up in the bracket and take your skills somewhere else, either in the same state or far away. Realize that the game is all in your head, no matter how well you play physically. Your best friends or even your partner may find a way to influence you without you realising it. At this time, it’s hard to say enough about how important it is to keep a healthy balance in your life.
