History and more

The Duomo di Milano, also called the Milan Cathedral in English, is one of the most beautiful buildings in all of Italy. The cathedral was built over the course of more than 600 years, and changes and repairs are still being made to keep it in good shape today.

Bishop Antonio da Saluzzo and Viscount Gian Galeazzo came up with the idea for such a big cathedral. They also designed the pink and white marble exterior of the cathedral. The project started in 1386 and had at least 78 architects. Thousands of artists, sculptors, and construction workers were hired to work on it. In 1418, the cathedral was still being built, but political and government pressure made it happen anyway. But the building wasn’t finished until Napoleon’s time, which was in the 1800s. The beautiful Milan Cathedral, which took 600 years to build, draws visitors from all over the world. From the roof to the crypts, the building has amazing details that will blow your mind.
