What are your crucial travel tips?

You are the only one who can make your journey successful. The book The Myth of the Perfect Travel says that successful travel is very personal. How you feel about how well your trip went depends on your personal opinion, attitude, state of mind, environment, etc.

Here are some tips that will help you have a better vacation.

Pick a good place to live.

First advice may seem obvious, but it’s crucial. Give yourself some time to daydream, look at your list of things to do, throw darts at a world map, or take advantage of deals to figure out where you want to go. Before you can enjoy daydreaming in front of an atlas, you must research. For example, it is better to learn about a country’s current political situation (such as war, revolution, coup, etc.) before going there.

You may also need to get recommended or required vaccines, a passport, or even a visa for where you want to go. All these things require some planning, making it less likely that people will leave “at the last minute.” Just as important as the choice of location is the choice of dates. In some places, the main seasons are the monsoon and the dry season. Depending on your choice, the way you explore a country will be very different. When we went to Cambodia in February, some places didn’t have much vegetation, and the houses on the banks of the TonlĂ© Sap looked like big waders. During the rainy season, when we went to the north of Peru, we had to take a bus through a chaotic area because of landslides. Aside from the weather, planning can help you avoid times when there are many people on the road. When the kids are out of school is the best time to visit, but you should also check out local holidays and events. Go to Bolivia during carnival time, Rome for canonization, Santiago de Compostela on Palm Sunday, or Lisbon for the Champions League Cup final. Your trip will be very different.

What kind of plan do you have for your money?

Putting money aside for your trip ahead of time gives you a clear plan and lets you get ready for your stay so that you don’t have to worry about money while you’re there. If I got to the end of the world and didn’t have enough money to explore the country fully, that would be a shame. Every place is different, so your monthly budget in Bolivia and Japan will be different. Once you know where you want to go and what you want to do, find out how much it costs to live there and what attractions there are so you can make a budget.

What are these credit cards?

Not only should you pay attention to your spending plan, but you should also pay attention to the accounts and bank cards you plan to use. If one is lost or stolen, we always travel with two credit cards. We also bring cards linked to different accounts in case one is lost or stolen.

What is the price?

Should I bring any money from the country? If this is the case, getting one before a trip is not always necessary because they are often sold at the destination airport. You can always bring a few US dollars with you for longer trips for peace of mind.  For worry-free travel, you should get or bring several documents. Identity papers are the basis for everything else such as an identity card or passport, depending on the destination.

Techniques and Tips

In addition to checking the passport’s expiration date (be careful: you often need a passport valid for at least six months after the date you plan to return!), you should also check the passport’s photo. Here are some ideas to help you get ready for the worst.

Important Tips for Business Travelers to Stay Safe Online

Video conferencing technology has enabled teams in different cities, countries, or regions to work together. Because of this, the need for business travel has decreased significantly, but it hasn’t gone away. Professionals need access to corporate resources and devices while on the road and networks they aren’t familiar with, whether they are going to a remote office or a conference. Poses a cybersecurity risk to the individual and the business. Remember that you can use these tips to stay safe online, even when traveling for fun, not just business.

1. Safely book your trip.

Today, most people book their travel online, and dozens of websites offer this service at the lowest possible price. Before booking travel, check out these websites. Make hotel reservations at places with extra security measures, like Rotana, which uses highly secure electronic signatures for guest check-in and check-out. Use the “lock” icon on your browser to ensure that sites are safe. Then, only buy from the website if it accepts secure payments or if you use a secure payment service like PayPal.

2. Don’t use Wi-Fi networks in public places.

Wi-Fi is great because it can be used almost anywhere in the world, no matter where you are. On the other hand, Wi-Fi is a big security risk for your device and your business.  Even if it seems like the Wi-Fi network is good for where you are, you should check again before connecting. A hacker can easily set up a Wi-Fi network and use it to get into connected devices. For example, you might find the “Wi-Fi Coffee-House” while drinking your morning cappuccino. It is a public network that doesn’t need a password. Even though the Wi-Fi network in the cafe is the official one, it could be the start of a cyberattack. In this case, all you have to do to connect and use a VPN is ask the staff which network the cafe should be on. Also, think about the Wi-Fi you are connected to before doing a certain task on your device. Even if you use a reliable Wi-Fi network at your local coffee shop, you shouldn’t use your mobile app to do any banking. However, casual browsing and small purchases on well-known, reputable websites should be safe.

3. Automatically turn off Bluetooth.

Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connections that aren’t encrypted pose the same security risks. People often leave the Bluetooth feature on, which lets the device connect to and look for other Bluetooth devices on its own. Attackers can use this automatic login to get into their devices. So, turn off Bluetooth when you leave the house. It is especially important if you’re going to a busy public place like an airport. Once you’re inside your house, hotel, or car, it’s much less likely that someone will attack you through Bluetooth. It would help if you tried to use hard connections in public places as much as possible. Use headphones or speakers that are wired to your phone. Cybercriminals are much less likely to be able to take advantage of hard connections.
